Sustainably sewn from the smallest pieces of fabrics left over from larger sewing projects, these pincushions are decorative as well as practical. I create patchwork fabric from the pieces not too small for being sewn together, then sew the pincushion and fill it with the teeniest fabric scraps around. The sewn edges are finished with handstitching with gold thread that picks up a part of the design in one of the fabrics. Each pincushion is unique and I only have three available.
Fabrics used for piecing are Hungarian blue dye (kékfestő) cloth and African wax print brocade. Filling is a mix of cotton, linen and wool fabric bits.
