Do you know Kollabora? Well you should! It’s a site for all DIY-ers – people who sew, knit, make jewelry, embroider… you name it, they’ve got it! A social networking site for makers-meets-craft magazine-meets-budding supplies marketplace. You can find people making all kinds of things, follow along as they begin to work on a project and see how it gets finished. You can learn how to hand-stamp a scarf, make body necklace, sew a notebook, or join a summer top sewalong.
Not only that, the folks behind Kollabora are super, super nice. I’ve dropped by their Open Lab before, which is a once-monthly casual get-together (first Thursday of each month) where you can bring along something you’re working on and hang out with other makers at Kollabora HQ in Soho. If you happen to be in New York for one of these, you should go!
So, this week is dedicated to needle crafts on Kollabora. And there’s a Meet the Maker interview with me! It’s aaaallllll about embroidery. (Well – not quite: there is also a photo of our cat…)
Embroidery week kicks off with an invitation to get skilled in embroidery -and one of the things you can make is my own Little Berry Burst embroidery pattern (PDF)! Learn how to stitch it on a t-shirt here, or here on Kollabora.
I have a few things in mind to embroider in honor of the event… How fun right? (Not that I really need a special occasion for embroidering.)
What will you make?
